Longitudinal Study on the Effects of Relationship Satisfaction and Self-esteem on the Depression among the Low-income, Middle-aged Korean Women

Using the wave 1~3 of Korean Welfare Panel Study, this study aimed to examine the effect of relationship satisfaction and self-esteem on low-income, middle-aged women"s depression. According to the result, satisfaction with family relationships, satisfaction with social relationships, and self-esteem had significant effects on depression level. Among the control variables, age had significant effect on depression. Based on the results, it was suggested that, in intervening low-income middle-aged women"s depression, policies to enhnce family relationship, social relationship, self-esteem should be prepared and those policies should consider life cycle.
